5th Celebrate...
CELEBRATE THE VICTORIES... IMMEDIATELY! we are our own harshest critics the vast majority of the time. Ask a person what they like about themselves there's usually an awkward pause and a stutter before stating something trivial. For others that pause and stutter progresses to outright silence.
Now ask the same person what they dislike about themselves, there's usually a smaller pause and a small list of things to follow. For some that small list gets bigger.
For reasons i don't fully understand we seem to be better at putting ourselves down than talking ourselves up. EVEN when a positive outcome has occurred no matter how small a person will hastily add on the end a 'BUT' or 'YEAH BUT'
there are multiple factors at play here because the body, mind and consciousness are infinitely complex and fascinating. That isn't to say you cant steer the ship in your favour, you can!!
consider the mind is like a muscle. Muscles need to be trained to be strong, be flexible, adapt, endure, shift correctly. The more you use these muscles the better they get and continually progress.
So like muscles the mind can be trained. Trained through your self talk in both meaning and choice of words, decisions and actions.
Your outlook and state of mind influence a great deal of things.
So here's what to do:
CELEBRATE EVERY LITTLE VICTORY OR WIN THAT HAPPENS. with no 'buts' on the end. IN REAL TIME AS THEY HAPPEN.
No matter how small or insignificant you think the victory is CELEBRATE IT.
This coaches your mind to focus on it. Progress and achievement excite the mind enhancing your outlook and state!
this applies to every area of your daily life not just working out or diet.
Now lets get the obvious out of the way! its not a good idea to celebrate a weight or diet WIN with food.
that's promoting a reward system with food. A bad relationship with food. which is in direct conflict with a weight related goal most of the time.
The celebration i'm talking about is acknowledging the victory or win, allowing yourself to be happy and proud of it. jump around, dance, sing whatever but cement it in your brain as a noticed victory.
Focus goes where energy flows so put your energy into progress and results. Not the lesser points.
