Difference between training & exercise

Commonly thought of as the same thing. Whilst they share commonalities and even hold hands. its important to point of the specifics.

this can help you assess you efforts better. Are you training as much as you think, or are you exercise more than you think and training less?

exercise / activity. Endured bouts of movement. this is to mimmick our long time ancestors of the wild. Where we would have to travel by walking or running and hunt / forage our meals daily. In other wordwxwe had to expend calories to eat. this was and still is evolutions path for us.

However not in todays world society has adapted creating a folk in the road with evolution, it takes only a finger to a screen to eat. so in todays world we eat alot more but move alot less! Period.

exercise and activity are ways of balancing out that equation. keeping your muscles joints moving, blood flowing with increased heart rate for prolonged periods. theres actually not any training going on at this point. Its often keeping you ticking over To a certain degree.

a side note:

the biggest reason science shows for weight gain in later life? Simples… people tend to move less daily as they get older.

so for me exercise and activity are banded in the NEAT category despite the name and reference. Which makes up to 70% of your fat burning potential daily when done consistently. this is why movement is encouraged through ideas such as step count.

Training on the other hand is designated purposeful and intentional repetiton of exercise. Designed to stimulate muscle growth and adaption. Its out of our comfort zone, working toward getting better, improving, reaching targets. Within a timeframe or by a deadline.

training amplifies your exercise and activity & nutritional habits And can plug the gaps or flaws. creating a buffer. It conditions you, it keeps you mobile and independant it stimulates your metabolism and helps keep within your circadian rhythm.

so why then if exercise has the potential of up to 70% is training often encouraged more?

generally speaking. it comes down to length of time. you may train for only 1 hour or 30 minutes. Youre expected to move / be active over the remaining awake hours of 23. But in todays world how likely is it people move majoirty of their waling day? Few exceptions.

due to the nature of actual training you couldnt sustain much longer bouts that an hour at a time. Theres a hormonal output consequence to everything. So the optimal training time is below 70 minutes.

the question is are you exercising when you think your training?

if your having a jolly old time, great conversation and selecting weights that dont actually challenge you most likely not training but exercising Because you never get past a warm up weight.

we need both types of movement for successful results but also positive affects on health and metal health. Recovery from training strategies is vital to progress. activity is actually a recovery method for Training.when blood is flowing nutrients are being delivered.

please note this is a generalised post and specifics and context for individuals is not applied. This is not determining individuals requirements its purpose is tochelp understanding of the differnce between training and exercise in my view.
