2nd of your minds 5 a day
Don't take it to the extremes
This is one thing most people either think is required or is the stumbling block for most a couple of days in to the 'new' them.
Lets be frank. there is no new year new you. sure its a new year but its the same you. why would you want it to be anything else!! you are the results of your years of decisions and actions building up to now That doesn't change at a whim and there is nothing wrong with that.
you DON'T have to be someone new to go after your goals or dreams. Meaning you don't need to go from zero exercise to a 'gym junky' or fast food king to vegan. Hell it doesn't even mean you have to do dry January.
Slow and steady wins the race, and this race is marathon. Too extreme of changes at the beginning is like a sprint at the start of the marathon, especially if you haven't the support mechanism around you or are relying on others to stick to it with you.
So how do you overcome this? well you need an honest assessment of your current habits and lifestyle. From there you can introduce positive changes, tweaks and adaptions.
you'll also need to consider time frames and deadlines. the truth is there is no unrealistic goals ONLY unrealistic deadlines. Whilst its great to see 12 week transformations that inspire us. The truth is this attainable for many people because of their starting point. This doesn't mean you cant do it this means be real with your expectations and deadlines
The longer you keep yourself in the game the better your results and outcomes. You even find that the things that got you started such as weight loss or fitness end up being overtaken by other inspirations such as sense of achievement and belonging. All powerful factors.
