Work can be an obstacle Day 5... Terri's Fitness Journey

So then day 5 was a good day!

I only work half days on a Friday so it always goes pretty quick and as a bonus I get to squeeze in an afternoon nap (another one this week! ) Full marks for food discipline again, as iv'e already said, i follow things through and when it comes to food and planning this is one of my strengths. Its planned and laid out for me so i don't have to spend energy obsessing or overthinking that aspect. For the 30 minutes to an hour i spend on a Sunday planning my weekly meals and shopping save me time and energy all week.

Food was spread nicely across the day so no particular hunger spells. It was Recovery day so low impact cardio and no weights. This is to let the body recover whilst helping my metabolism stay high. Rest doesn't mean be lazy when you have a goal to achieve. This is a contributing factor to training smart.

My choice of low impact exercise / cardio is walking outdoors. I have a nice little route that has a short and longer option depending on time. Fresh air, green surroundings and some movement. the best!

I was happy i got to rest my aching body, its a mental and motivation pick up too. Quads were on fire from the pendulum on Thursday evening, but i love the burn really! The only one thing about today was that it was "fat Friday" at work which I am so against; If you work in an office environment i'm sure you know about this!

Everyone thinks it’s ok to eat rubbish on a Friday and it doesn’t count! (not that many people are disciplined during the week anyway) This isn't a judgement, just more of an observation. People will do what they do and live how they choose. I see it as one of the biggest if not the biggest obstacle for a person trying to loose weight or make a positive health change when surrounded by an office full of people acting to outcomes in the opposite direction. For many people wanting to feel a part of the group is important, so many people will participate just to save potential ridicule or unwanted attention at the sacrifice of their goal.

I was offered a bacon and sausage sandwich, cookies, donuts, sweet and biscuits. I turned it all down and stuck to my plan and ploughed through. I have quite strong will power and happy to turn down food but I know others find it difficult. Just remember when you are in your journey and you get offered these goodies, just think - what is my end goal, why am I doing this and also how will I feel after eating that? Hopefully this will help you make your decision.

A night out for me tonight!

Mini post wedding hen do tonight. So another chance for me to test my willpower. Say no to alcohol!!! I said above is one of the biggest well this one is one of the other major ones. turning down alcohol!

Something that can be so hard, people don’t tend to like it when you say no. Stick to your guns! I did however have a small glass of red as recommended by Matt. When your body is in a good position, a glass of red can help dry you out and get rid of that water retention and is also full of lots of anti oxidants. After a boogie and lots of water I came home feeling fresh albeit tired!!! Now I’m ready for a Full weekend of training and also most importantly time to relax, recover and spend time doing the things I love to unwind.
