Follow Terri's Journey... Day 1

My intensive 2 week bootcamp. I guess the most obvious question is why am I doing it? I have 2 reasons. Firstly my wedding reception is coming up in 3 weeks and I want to loose that little bit of body fat and a few pounds and secondly I wanted to document this mini journey to show you lot out there what it requires, how it feels and what can be achieved.

Here goes! First day

Early start at 6am to have my first lots of measurements done, Matt Takes my Body Mass scores using his Metabolic analytics methods. This reveals accurately how much body fat and lean mass (muscle and bone) i currently have but also where my body is storing the most.

Most people may think they know where this is visually but often its a different story when assessed. Using this information it gives Matt my starting point for which he can work my individual nutritional needs and how to train for optimal results. After the assessment i went into a 20 minute body weight session in the house as I couldn’t get to the gym this morning - but no excuses especially on day 1!

Today was a pretty busy day, I ate to the plan, no slip ups and actually forget I was a bit peckish at one point. (its ok to be peckish its not ok to be starving especially when following a program that is physically and mentally demanding too.) My nutrition has been written for me by Matt, so it’s my responsibility to follow the plan and to make the most out of these 2 weeks. Today I would definitely give my food intake a 10!

As for work it was a pretty stressful day, some unexpected and unanticipated things popped up as in everyone's life but still managed to get myself to the gym from work for my second workout of the day.

To give you an overview of my typical day; i have a demanding full time job as well as teaching yoga and helping Matt out in his new venture of opening his Private training Facility. So before you (may) think something like ' i have plenty of time or all day to workout because my husband does this for a living'. Actually its the opposite. I have to get up extra early to get a workout in, rush home to get ready for work, from work ill pop home get changed and go to the studio to teach and help out. Then finally home on the evening around 8-9pm prepare and cook meals for next day and then bed.

During the day i have to prioritise eating as i could easily keep myself busy and not eat, but Matt has told me this isn't going to help with results or speed anything up, in fact it can have negative effects on fat loss. There is nothing easy here and i will never have time if i don't make time!

I've learnt this is what it means to have a goal, this is what it means to prioritise!

After work i engaged my first Full body weight session delivered by Matt. Dead lift variations, squat variations and them some upper body work. Matt always says get the hard things done first followed by the tiring things.

I thought to myself isn't it all hard?? Matt explained to me the difference... You cant perform optimally when tired so do the most demanding things first. This is why cardio should be done after weights and not before.

I Love a good weight training session, so this lifted my mood and chilled me out for the evening. Protein shake after the workout to tide me through until dinner. to Help replenish my muscles but also to help hit my daily protein target.

Happy with my efforts on first day Aiming to get 7-8 hours a night to assist recovery both mentally and physically as Matt continually drums in about recovery and needing sleep if i want successful results. Overall its been a great day and looking forward to day 2.
